Manifesto

This is the blog for the 'Punk the Plinth' project. The aim is to get my Sex Pistols sculpture on to the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square.

Why: It's an interesting challenge. It would be a huge statement for democracy. It would celebrate the important of London based musicians who have furthered the global standing of London, and the piece would look brilliant up there.

How: Firstly we need to get the sculpture onto the shortlist of 5 pieces.

So having launched the project we now need to get into the press, I have given Fay Bamblett the job of running the campaign because firstly she is a big fan of punk, and most importantly has the energy and enthusiasm.

Let's Punk the Plinth!

First Press

The Local Courier did a good article , with a small photo on the front page and a well written article with good images , the local press put such bad photos in its better to send in your own.
So it is out there, WE have decided to targetsome high profile people, to be honest if we cant get John Lydon to sign up to the project it is dead in the water, but we do have some photos of me with some members of P.I.L which I will upload.

Guy on Dragons' Den

DAY ONE OF CAMPAIGN

Today, Guy is getting the Punk the Plinth T-shirts printed as well as the first batch of flyers. The flyers will be handed out by Guy and his team at the Public Image Ltd concert at the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire on Monday.

The campaign has launched off to a flying start, with several web pages promoting the project already set up and enticing followers. A new title has been added to the website, inspired by cuttings made from 'Vicious: Too Fast To live' one of my all time favourite books.

Manifesto

This is the blog for the 'Punk the Plinth' project. The aim is to get my Sex Pistols sculpture on to the Forth Plinth in Trafalgar Square.

Why: Its an interesting challenge. It would be a huge statement for democracy. It would celebrate the importance of London based musicians who have furthered the global standing of London , and the piece would look brilliant up there, we would need to make it bigger, but they probably give you lottery money for that , as I cant imagine these rich artists who have exhibited on the plinth before spending there own money!!

How: firstly we need to get the sculpture onto the short list of 5 pieces.

So having launched the project we then need to get into the press, I have given Fay Bamblett the job of running the campaign, firstly she is a big fan of punk. and most importantly has the energy and enthusiasm.
Today I am getting the Tshirts printed , as we intend to hand out flyers at the P.I.L concert in London next monday.
